OUR PURPOSE

Ten years ago, we started Dock & Bay because we wanted to build something we were genuinely proud of. Not just a product, a business. One that did right by the people who buy from us, the people who make our stuff, and the planet we're all sharing.

We've not always got it right. And there's plenty we're still working on, our end-of-life story isn't finished, our climate plan is brand new, and we know there's more to do. But that's kind of the point. We don't want to wait until we're perfect to talk about it. We'd rather be honest about where we are, clear about where we're going, and held accountable along the way.

Dock & Bay does not engage in lobbying activities. We do not seek to influence legislation, regulation, or public policy through direct or indirect lobbying, nor do we make political contributions or fund lobbying organisations.

Where relevant, we may engage in open, transparent dialogue with industry groups or participate in consultations to better understand regulatory developments, but we do not undertake lobbying or advocacy intended to influence political decision making.

Do your products shed microplastics, and what are you doing about it?

Like most synthetic fabrics, including recycled polyester made from GRS (Global Recycled. Standard) certified materials, our products can shed tiny synthetic fibres during manufacturing and when washed at home. GRS certified materials mean we have verified through an independent body, the recycled content in our products and tracked it through the supply chain.

This isn't a unique issue to Dock & Bay: it's a characteristic of synthetic textiles generally. We use recycled fibres because they give existing plastic waste a second life, but that doesn't eliminate shedding, and we'd rather be upfront about that trade-off than stay quiet on it. 

We're always reviewing how technology and legislation in this space is evolving so we can make further steps to improve as the opportunities arise. A microfibre-catching wash bag or an external washing machine filter is currently the most effective step you can take to reduce the impact of synthetic fabric shedding, alongside washing on lower temperatures, shorter cycles, and fuller loads.
